About
A graphic artist with a side order of geek.
Where’s my electric eraser?
Starting off as a traditional illustrator/designer having many great mentors through my career has given me great problem solving skills. I want to give thanks to my first art director and true friend David Dapkus. Once I became proficient in one area, he would make me learn the next process or step in printing output. Learning the complete “soup to nuts” methods allows you to figure out how you can overcome issues, problem solve, understand limits and work around them.
Greatest invention ever, Command Z …
As my career turned digital, I was again fortunate to work with computer system engineers, software/application engineers, electromechanical engineers, distinguished color scientist, and optical engineers. All generous with their time and happy to share their knowledge. I like to know how things work, there’s a few things that I took apart (when I was a kid) in boxes still hiding in my dad’s house! Things with nuts, bolts, and gears are fine, things with little tiny springs, not so much.
Inspiration is found in things you believe in.
I love great design in art and tangible things. It’s so easy to create when you look at a product that can make someones life easier, safer, or enrich their lives. it’s a goal that no matter where I work, I want to go home feeling that I did something good today that may or will help somebody.
Teaching and evangelization… You think I was running for office.
Theres nothing like having a captive audience and showing them some new magical device or helping them learn a new program. Working for companies like Apple and Polaroid was just a natural fit. I’m always happy to share my knowledge for those who want to learn.
